Assessment, Rvz Online, and a picture of Bruce Willis

So it’s been since christmas since I’ve been blogging on here! I think it’s due to the fact that I’ve been busy doing a lot of uni work, dissertation, assessments, house party dutch style and so on. Also Neil and me launched our webstite www.ritsonvanzoggel.com, So take a look if u fancy. There’s also a blog, twitter and other links. Our assessment went really good. We spend a lot of hours improving our uni book and reworking older briefs. Our book was packed full of good human truths and idea, strategy/concept wise everything is going great, it’s all about crafting our ads better now. Spend more time on details and make the copy and art direction stand out. We have confidence that semester B is going to be the best semester ever, packed with workshops, guest lectures, agency visits, bookcrits and so on.

Because Neil and me have a ritsonvanzoggel blog, things here will probably change a little bit aswell. Just like when I made the move from my graphic design course in Holland to the creative advertising course in Lincoln, I will keep this leggozcreations blog, only the content of my posts will change a little bit.

Back to reality

After a lovely, but busy holidays I’m back in Lincoln again, ready to start the final push towards my degree/securing placements! Exciting and scary times indeed. But after a relaxing few days in the beautifull city of Edinburgh, a visit to northern England to spend christmas with my girlfriends family, a little trip ‘back home’ to Holland to see some of my friends and family and celebrate new year I must say I’m ready to get back into the real world again and I’m longing for some rythm and order in my days. Can’t wait to see what the new uni briefs are about and to start D&AD, (finetune) YCN, shoot a promotion film for RvZ and what else!

Fog, YCN and The Human Cannonball

So, winter is definitely cracking in! It’s really really cold here in good old Lincolntown. I was walking trough town last week at 8 in the morning and the fog created a creepy, sleepy, feeling in the city. The cathedral towered above the fog. Although the cold also contributes to the warm christmas spirit that is all around us now. The famous christmas market is up, made a ‘quick’ round this afternoon and it looks all cozy and nice. Workwise its going good with some YCN briefs on our plate. Although today wasn’t quite as productive as we hoped…but that had it reasons.

So, I’ve been thinking about doing some sort of mix, album, compilation, podcast sort of thing for a while now. I finally decided to just try and do it. I started working with the ‘winter’ theme, selected my favourite songs that in one way have a winter feeling to them (not Maria Carey, Wham! and more of that christmas crap, just alternative songs that seem to be suited for the wintertime..atleast for me), and put them in a big list. I then put them in an order which I thought would be exciting. Deleted some songs which didn’t feel appropriate to this album, and then put them all together in a nice little download for you. It turned out not as a ‘mix’ but see it more as a ‘blend/compilation’. It’s purely for fun and just to play around with some songs that I thought would form a lovely album. After 150 blogposts here I was looking trough my ‘dashboard’ statistics. I noticed that I get a lot of visitors every day that end up here via google. When I looked up when my blog appeared under the search term ‘portfolio poster’ I found that my work is image #2 you see, and the 7th web link you’ll see. It’s an old experimental poster I did whilst studying graphics a couple of years ago. Quite remarkable that my blog/work is already quite high up in the google hits. Also when you google ‘avant garde poster’ or ‘avant garde font’ my work seems to appear on the first page.

Other then the above I went out with friends, watched a couple of films, finally started Mad Men season1, worked on my dissertation, reworked a couple of briefs with Neil, gave my room a proper cleaning (it’s always tidy but covered with cobwebs…) Made some progress on the RvZ website and of course enjoyed the lovely workshop by PunchItUp! Back to work now, starting the YCN competition briefs!

Creative Detox!

As you might have noticed by the lack of blogging..Busy times at the moment! We’ve been working on numerous briefs over the past few weeks, we hade a couple of workshops/lectures, London bookcrits, disssssertation, and a lot of other things going on. So this weeks brief came as a welcome relief to all of us 3rd years creative advertising students: The Creative Detox! A week of catching up sleep, doing things u postponed for a while, reflect back on your work…or even your life if you want to. A week filled with nothing..only 1 workshop, the creative detox, on thursday. I can’t wait to see what that is like. For the rest of week im planning to go for a couple of runs on the common, make a painting with my girlfriend, e-mail or call some friends and family back in Holland, watch a lot of films and documentaries, make a nice meal for me and my housemates (inc deserts), read that copywriting book I purchased but never really looked at, flick trough ‘the art of looking sideways’, practise my guitar skills, rework some old briefs and get pissed (actually, I bought the biggest bottle of Cobra beer I could find when I walked out of uni at 12.45 and enjoying it right now) See u all next week!
